Srinagar, Aug 06 (KNO): The Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) on Thursday objected to the listing of pork products on Blinkit in Kashmir, demanding their immediate removal and calling for an investigation into how the products were made available for sale. It also urged businesses operating in the region to respect Kashmir's religious and cultural sensitivities. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), Jammu & Kashmir, expressed outrage after screenshots shared by people allegedly showed pork products being listed for sale on the online delivery platform Blinkit in Kashmir. An MMU spokesperson said it is well known that the sale and consumption of pork are prohibited in Islam and that Muslims are deeply sensitive to the issue. The spokesperson questioned how such products were allowed to enter the market for sale and urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and warn those responsible. The spokesperson said the Majlis asked Blinkit to immediately remove the products from its inventory and ensure that pork products are neither stocked, advertised nor sold in Kashmir. It added that businesses operating in the region must respect the religious and cultural sensitivities of the people and act responsibly.—(KNO)
